Abstract
The review indicates that the novelty of A. Bakhtin’s monograph “The Russian State and the Kazan Khanate: Interstate Relations in the 15th–16th Centuries. (St. Petersburg, 2021)” lies in its convincing proof that the policy of the Russian state in relation to the Kazan Khanate in the first third of the 16th century was not aggressive. A. Bakhtin’s interpretation of the events, related to the Middle Volga region capture, deserves special attention.
