Why Anton Eichenwald got interested in Tatar folk songs

Abstract
The article presents some facts from the creative biography of the composer Anton Aleksandrovich Eichenwald (1875-1952), shedding light on his interest in Tatar folk music. During the analysis, a number of factual errors were revealed in certain research works concerning the information about the ethnographer’s expeditionary activities.
